Founded in 1997 by Bob Parsons, GoDaddy is a publicly traded internet domain registrar and a web hosting company. It’s said to be the largest domain registrar in the world, with around 17 million paying customers.
All this shows that GoDaddy has been in the league of internet industries for 20 years, and it’s quite reputable now.
Apart from domains, it also offers web hosting services, website builder, and some other ones. So in this post, I’m gonna share with you the in-depth review of GoDaddy’s website builder.
So keep in mind, wherever I mention GoDaddy, I’m talking about its website builder.
Let’s start with the pros and cons –
1) Pros of Using GoDaddy (Website Builder)
- Really easy to use.
- 300+ professional looking templates to choose from.
- Backup & Restore function.
- Minimalistic interface.
- Websites are created using WYSIWYG editor.
- Advanced SEO features for a little extra cost.
- Different support channels – phone, live chat and email support.
2) Cons of Using GoDaddy (Website Builder)
- Not as much advanced and feature-rich as Wix or Weebly.
- You’re restricted to add your own HTML or CSS codes.
- You can’t switch your theme without losing your content.
- No eCommerce tools.
- Mobile version of themes is pretty basic.
3) Ease of Use
It comes with a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get), which means whatever you’re doing on website editor, will show up the same way when the website is published.
Unlike Wix, it provides pretty basic tools for editing your website. Not many integrations, no option for adding custom code, but still it’s really simple to use that even a noob can use it effortlessly.
4) Hosting (Speed & Security)
Your website will be hosted on GoDaddy’s own servers. Although the sites built on GoDaddy are not the only ones that their servers are going to host, still it’s an advantage (especially in terms of speed).
They provide top notch security for their users, and you can buy SSL certificate for an additional cost (it enhances security and search engine appearance).
5) Mobile Website
At present, GoDaddy is offering more than 300 professional looking templates to choose from. The good part is, it automatically converts your website into a mobile friendly interface so that you don’t have to design it separately.
Additionally, there’s a cool option in their website builder that enables you to hide specific elements for mobile display. e.g. If you don’t want to show social media widget on the mobile screen, you can hide it keeping it safe in the desktop version.
One of the biggest drawbacks of using GoDaddy website builder is that it doesn’t provide any tools for making the website eCommerce compatible.
However, there is another website builder offered by GoDaddy through which you can build online stores.
Let me repeat once again! GoDaddy is offering more than 300 professional looking website templates.
The website creation process is quite simple as I’ve already mentioned. But here’s a down point, similar to Wix, you cannot add custom HTML or CSS to the template.
But still, if you need a static website for an agency or for your portfolio, you should go with GoDaddy.
GoDaddy’s support is the best part of this entire review. They offer 24x7x365 live chat, phone, and email support. They also have some tutorials posted on their knowledge base.

10) Who Should Buy Godaddy?
Being a minimalistic and easy to use website builder, I’d definitely recommend you to give it a try. The entry level plans are quite affordable and it’s worth trying GoDaddy’s website builder.
Obviously, you won’t get as much feature as you’ll get in other website builders like Wix. But the fact is, you won’t even use half of Wix’s feature if you’re building a simple and static website.
So my suggestion is if you need a website builder that can help you build your website (simple/not feature rich) quickly and effortlessly, the GoDaddy is the right thing for you.
