Overall Rating: 4.9/5
- The most easy-to-use website builder available on the internet.

- Offers a free plan.
- Tremendous support – phone, email, forum support and knowledge base.
Wix is a cloud-based web development platform that came into existence in 2006 and now it has become one of the best website builders out there.
As of 2017, it has surpassed 100 million registered users (more than 2 million people upgraded for premium plans), which adds up to its credibility and quality.
Wix is considered to be the easiest to use drag-and-drop website builder that even a dummy can use it after spending some minutes on their website.
The UI is next to awesome and you can create any type of website without actually knowing how to code.
Wix offers a wide range of designs and add-ons (3rd party integrations) to meet industry-specific needs such as for photographers, designers, musicians, online stores, and other businesses.
In addition, they’ve introduced ADI – Artificial Design Intelligence, where Wix’s artificial intelligence program create your entire website automatically. This specific feature takes Wix to
This specific feature takes Wix to the top of the league of the best website builders. No more comments on it!
Wix also has some limitations that you’re gonna find out in this epic review. So without wasting time, let’s have a look at it –
1) Pros of Using Wix
- Offers a free plan that lets you host websites at no charge.
- Intuitive website builder.
- More than 500 industry-specific designs and templates.
- ADI – Artificial Design Intelligence technology lets you quickly create industry standard website, unlike any other website builder.
- Offers tremendous speed & security.
- Offers 3rd party integrations using Wix App Market.
- Let’s you monetize your website either by Google AdSense or banner ads or by affiliate links.
- Option to restore previous revisions of your website.
- Multilingual – supports 16 languages at the moment.
- Support is everywhere – phone, email, forum support and knowledge base.
2) Cons of Using Wix
- You’ve to be at least a “Combo” plan member, in order to remove Wix Ads from your website.
- You need to upgrade to the premium plan for integrating Google Analytics into your website.
- At maximum, you can only add up to two levels of navigation.
- Not the best website builder for E-commerce due to limited options.
- Switching design templates is quite annoying. So, think twice before you finalize a template.
- Wix doesn’t offer data exports & archive i.e. you can’t take your website out of Wix and host it somewhere else.
3) Ease of Use
Let me repeat, Wix’s UI is the one of the best in the industry. Even if you’re new and have no previous experience, you can easily pick a template and start editing it like a pro.
It’s pure WYSIWYG – What You See Is What You Get, means whatever you do in website editor will be shown as-it-is once the site is published.
One great feature that I found while using Wix editor is that you’ll find help buttons all over.
This means you need not to visit support forums or read blog posts in order to understand Wix completely.
So overall, Wix has done a great job in developing such a nice UI!
4) Hosting (Speed & Security)
Wix websites are hosted on their own servers those are optimized only for hosting Wix websites.
It means Wix professionals are taking care of your website’s speed and security.
In a nutshell, Wix websites are faster and much secure than that of shared hosting plans.
5) Mobile Website
Wix websites are mobile friendly, but not mobile responsive.
They offer you a unique mobile editor, in which you can edit the mobile version of your website separately from the desktop version.
You can re-arrange & even hide specific pieces of content on your mobile pages.
It means that the mobile version of your site maybe slightly different from the desktop one.
6) Wix App Market
When you hear this term “App Market”, what comes into your mind? Probably iTunes, Play Store or Shopify.
Wix has also entered the league offering ample add-ons (3rd party integrations) that enhance the functionality of your website. You can install the desired application in a single-click.
Wix App Market also integrates with many popular services like newsletters, contests, live support, and testimonials.
Wix’s top-tier VIP plan offers the functionality to add a shop section to your website. I won’t call it a fully featured web store, as it doesn’t compare to industry leaders like BigCommerce & Shopify.
It does offer features like different payment options, partial SSL, coupons and tax settings option, but on the other hand it lacks the ability to sell digital goods (you can add that ability by integrating an external solution from Wix App Market for an extra cost), customize order confirmation e-mails, import/export data, add a customer login feature, etc.
In a nutshell, if your primary niche is related to E-commerce, Wix is not for you. Go for either BigCommerce or Shopify or BoldGrid.
8) ADI – Artificial Design Intelligence
As already said, ADI is an artificial intelligence developed by Wix. Depending upon your niche, it automatically creates your website in minutes.
You can add your existing social profiles URL (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.) to ADI & it’ll generate the first look of your website based on the information and links you provided.
You can then edit it further as per your needs.
ADI is an additional feature, but it’s worth to try.
Wix offers you more than 500 beautifully designed templates to start with.
The good part is, there are over 70 categories of templates (blog, portfolio, business, etc.) and the stock is refreshed regularly.
There’s also an option to start with a blank page, but if you’re new, I’d suggest you start with a template.
In addition, they have a huge library of free and professional stock images and videos that will make your website beautiful and interactive.
One down point of using Wix is that you can’t edit HTML & CSS of your website or web pages.
Quickly adding up a point from cons section, if you choose a template, you can’t change it to another one. You have to copy paste it manually.
Wix allows you to monetize your content using AdSense, affiliate links and/or banner ads.
You can install Google AdSense integration from Wix App Market.
I can say that Wix has one of the best support in the industry.
They offer phone support, email support, support forums and knowledge base.
You can ask questions in the support forums and most of the time you get the solution.
But if the problem continues, you can call their support team anytime between 6 am to 5 pm PST or schedule a call with a Wix specialist.
Here’s the Wix pricing –
13) Who Should Buy It?
Wix is an ideal solution for small businesses, bloggers, designers, photographers and especially the freelancers who are looking for a great website builder for their (or clients’) website at affordable costs without actually knowing how to code.
I won’t recommend it for e-commerce as it has several limitations, and to people who have the technical knowledge and expect liberty in any terms (like editing the source code).
Overall, Wix is the possibly the best website editor out there with loads of features. It’s worth trying, as there’s a free plan as well. Also, they offer 14 days risk-free trial if you decide to upgrade to a premium plan.
